From the Desk of
the Grand Knight
Council Meeting
Thursday, May 8th – 7:30 PM
Fellow Brother Knights of Council 706:
Welcome to SPRING!! A season of rejoice, reinvigoration and yes, yard work!! I would like to thank all of those who helped with the Lenten fish fry’s. As always, they were a huge success with the leadership of Steve Tejchma. Speaking of Steve, have you acknowledged his work and dedication lately and extended a simple “Thank you”? If you haven’t, I would suggest that you do as well as to all the other volunteers that make that building work. On my last visit to a Lenten fish fry, I took a few minutes to look at all the work that is needed to make a dinner of that size a success…..from ordering of all the material from the plates to the fish itself….and then to all the gentlemen who volunteer there time on Thursdays to bread the fish and then the workers who actually do the cooking. And then, like any other party, there is the clean up afterwards. To steal a line from Steve Tejchma, “leave it the way you found it”, which means….CLEAN UP!! Again, to all those who volunteered their time and talents, a big Thank You!
As many of you may know, our bartender, Carrie Leiter, is battling cancer. She is going through her treatments, and they seem to be going well. As you can imagine, the handful of days that follow a treatment are difficult, but she is a tough one and plows through the tough days. I would ask that all of us in the KC Council 706 family to pray for Carrie’s health and speedy recovery. Josh Bisson, among others, has been filling in on Carrie’s rougher days. Please keep in mind that when we have a fill-in on the days Carrie usually works, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, that all bar tips go directly to Carrie as those are a big part of her income. A big thank you to all the volunteer bartenders who are helping on the days Carrie is recovering.
As the fraternal year comes to a close at the end of June, the Council will be electing new officers. Eric Bolman has agreed to become the next Grand Knight after my 2-year commitment is complete. Thank you, Eric, for stepping up. I have no doubt Eric will be a great Grand Knight as he has a great deal of enthusiasm, fresh ideas and energy. Let us all support him in his new position. Speaking of positions, there are many that make up the council from the Inside Guard to the Grand Knight. If anyone is interested in holding a position on the council, please contact me. We are still in need of filling Eric’s vacant position as Deputy Grand Knight.
The Councils next meeting is Thursday, May 8th at 7:30. Space is limited so please come early to reserve your spot!!

Another Lenten success season. Thank you all who helped in some fashion at Church and the club.
I’d like to also offer a heartfelt thank you to all who’ve been so very generous during our substitute bartending Friday’s. Your tips go directly to Carrie to help with expenses while she fights cancer. Your continued support and prayers are appreciated!!
