Council Meeting
October 14th, 7PM

“Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject, and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Church, Community and Council. The “3C’s”

Ask yourself what I have done in the 3C’s last month and what will I do this month.

Our council is asked to fulfill program requirements for Faith, Family, Community and Life to acquire the Supreme Columbian award. There are multiple opportunities within and outside our council to assist the 3C’s, there is at least one from each of the 3C’s listed below in the ‘Upcoming volunteer opportunities’ section below. Step up and accept the challenge.

Turkey Dinner Fundraiser

This year’s Turkey Dinner Fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, October 15th. The fundraiser will raise money to purchase children’s winter supplies for those in need here in the Muskegon area. Last year’s dinner raised over $11,000!! Let’s see if we can exceed that amount this year.

If you cannot attend the dinner, we will accept donations.  You can drop a check at the hall or mail one to: Knights of Columbus Council 706, 2915 Fairfield St, Norton Shores, MI 49441.  Please make check payable to Knight of Columbus Council 706, add in the note “Turkey Dinner Fundraiser”.

Knight of the Month

The Knight of the Month for October 2025 is Denny Chandonnet. Denny served as Grand Knight of our council TWICE, from 1977-79 and 2012-15. Most recently he was a trustee while at the same time the secretary of the building association, maintained the updates to the website and still volunteers for a bartending shift (6-8 on the third Monday if you want to stop in). Thanks Denny, for everything you have done and will continue to do.

If you are out in the community doing good, please let me know through an email or a text message.  My email is ebollma1@hotmail.com or text me at 313.300.3934, this will help me track what we are doing as brother Knights for our community.

Our council meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us. This month’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 14th @ 7pm.

Upcoming volunteer opportunities:

Jokes and Reflections

Joke this month :

Texas

The Sheriff pulled up next to the guy unloading garbage out of his pick-up into the ditch.

The Sheriff asked, “Why are you dumping garbage in the ditch?

Don’t you see that sign right over your head.”

“Yep,” he replied. “That’s why I’m dumpin’ it here, ‘cause it says: ‘Fine For Dumping Garbage.’”
