Council Meeting
September 9th, 7PM

‘Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you.’ – St. Augustine

Charity is the foundational principle of the Knights of Columbus, shaping every aspect of our mission and service. As members, charity calls us to love and serve our neighbors, especially the most vulnerable and those in need. Whether through financial aid, volunteer work, or community outreach, the Knights embody this virtue by actively responding to the needs of our parishes and communities. Charity is not just an act of giving – it’s a way of life that reflects our commitment to faith in action, making a tangible difference through kindness, generosity and solidarity.

I want to thank Tom, Steve and Doug for volunteering at St. Michael/St. Francis parish picnic this past month. With their help we were able to make short work of our assignments.

Keep an eye on the event calendar for the return of the fall Turkey Dinner fundraiser.  This event will raise money for the children here in the Muskegon area.  Our goal is to surpass last year’s amazing total of $11,000.

Our council meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us. This month’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 9th @ 7pm.

Upcoming volunteer opportunities:

  • Saturday, September 6 – Mobile Food Pantry at First Congregational Church
  • Sunday, September 14 – Ushering at the Michigan Irish Music Festival @ 11:00am mass
  • Sunday, September 21 – Ushering at St. Francis
  • Saturday, September 27 – Community breakfast at First Congregational Church

Jokes and Reflections

Joke this month :

No Chances:

A man, his wife and his mother-in-law were visiting the Holy Land.

While they were there, the mother-in-law passed away.

An undertaker told them .. you can have her shipped home for $5000, or you can bury her here in Holy Land for $150.”

The man thought about it and told him he would just have her shipped home.

The undertaker asked .. Why? Why would you spend $5000 to ship your mother-in-law home, when it would be wonderful to have her buried here and only spend $150?”

The man said, “A man died 2000 years ago. He was buried here and 3 days later, he rose from the dead. I just can’t take that chance.”
