From the Desk of
the Grand Knight
Council Meeting
Thursday, March 9th, 2023 – 7:00 PM
Brother Knights,
The Lenten fish fry dinners are in full swing and through these great dinners, we hope to raise money for a couple of great causes. The first is one that we have aided in the past with great success and the other is to a great individual. The first of our causes is AMBUCS, which some of you may remember from the past when we paired up with this organization that supplies therapeutic tricycles to those with disabilities. Thanks to the great people of Muskegon we were able to present a check to AMBUCS for $10,000.00. This is the little boy who received the tricycle at the AMBUCS dinner on Saturday night…he is ready to go!
Our second cause this Lenten season will be to help support Brother Michael Caughey, who is attending seminary in Lincoln Nebraska. Like any college, attending seminary school is not cheap, Our Lady of Guadalupe at $40,000.00 per year is no exception. Brother Michael will need all the help we can provide to reach our goal of $10,000.00. Thank you in advance for your help in reaching this goal.
Council meetings will be the second Thursday of each month, and everybody is welcome and encouraged to join us for our monthly meeting. This month our council meeting will be on March 9th @ 7 pm.
I hope all Brother Knights and their families are doing well, but for those that are going through tough times please pray for them. See the members in need on the website and keep them in your prayers.
I would ask that you add to your prayers, that God may guide our leaders and all of us to make the place we live in better than the day before. I believe that all of us can make a difference, especially in our own community, it starts with each one of us.
Lenten prayer:
Almighty and Everlasting God, You have given the human race Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility. He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man and giving His life on the Cross. Help us to bear witness to You by following His example of suffering and make us worthy to share in His Resurrection. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen.

Thank you to all who purchased a raffle ticket for the Valentine’s Basket. We sold 100 tickets. The lucky winner was Allan Lowe.
Mark your calendars! Friday May 5th is Cinco de Mayo. Once again, we will celebrate with delicious Old Homestead Burritos, Tacos and delicious Margaritas! An early reminder to get you ready to celebrate.
Our events are able to run smoothly because of brother Knights volunteering to help. We need help with these dinners. We also need help before the dinners. It takes a lot of people to get all the fixings together. Please contact Steve Tejchma at 855-2796. We would like to thank all the volunteers that help out.

Jokes and Reflections
This Month we are featuring the Annual Darwin Awards
Need Directions:
A little boy was waiting for his mother to come out of the grocery store.
As he waited, he was approached by a man who asked, “Son, can you tell me where the post office is?”
The little boy replied, “Sure, just go straight down the street a couple of blocks and turn to your right.”
The man thanked the boy kindly and said, “I’m the new pastor in town, and I’d like for you to come to church on Sunday. I’ll show you how to get to Heaven.”The little boy replied with a chuckle, “Awww, come on; you don’t even know the way to the post office!”
Sunday School:
Nine-year-old Danny came bursting out of Sunday school like a wild stallion. His eyes were darting in every direction as he tried to locate either mom or dad. Finally, after a quick search, he grabbed his Daddy by the leg and yelled, “Man, that story of Moses and all those people crossing the Red Sea was great!” His father looked down, smiled, and asked the boy to tell him about it.
“Well, the Israelites got out of Egypt, but Pharaoh and his army chased after them. So, the Jews ran as fast as they could until they got to the Red Sea. The Egyptian Army was gettin’ closer and closer. So, Moses got on his walkie talkie and told the Israeli Air Force to bomb the Egyptians. While that was happening, the Israeli Navy built a pontoon bridge so the people could cross over. And they made it!
By now old dad was shocked. Is THAT the way they taught you the “story?”Well, no, not exactly,” Danny admitted, “but if I told you the way they told it to us, you’d never believe it, Dad.”
Words of Wisdom:
What this country needs is less public speaking and more private thinking.
The two most difficult careers are entrusted to amateurs, citizenship and parenthood.
A successful politician is one who can get in the public eye without irritating it.
A Virginia kennel with dachshund puppies for sale advertised: “Git a long little doggie.”
Pilot’s description of handling a B-29: It’s like sitting on the front porch and flying a house.
In bakery shop window: “Pies like mother used to make or like mother thought she made, $7.00.”
A train that stopped as often as a woman in a bargain basement.
As relaxed as a poached egg on toast.
