Council Meeting
Thursday, August 8th, 2024 – 7:30 PM
Brother Knights of Council 706,
Wow what a beautiful summer we are blessed with, huh? The Wednesday night golf league has made the turn and heading towards home and the race to the finish should be a real close call and a nail-biter. I would encourage everyone in the golf league and throughout the council to come to the club and enjoy fellowship and a few cold beverages of your choosing. Last Wednesday we had Two Guys in Flip Flops and had a great evening and turnout and great dinner….Thank You.
I know there are many choices here in Muskegon in which to be outside with friends and enjoy each-others company but I would encourage you and your friends to take full advantage of our outside deck. Steve and the Building Association have done a great job in making it a nice area to do just that!!
Now to non-summer related business. This fall, we will be having a fundraiser (date to be determined) to raise funds to purchase winter clothing for the less fortunate in our community. Steve Tejchma and I will have a date soon and when we do, we will get the “word” out in a big way and I would encourage EVERYONE in the Council 706 Family to come out in droves to support this worthy endeavor. We will have a delicious meal and a collection. Our goal is to raise $10,000!!! We can do this! We will be forwarding a separate email soon with the details.
I would ask that you add into your prayers, that God may guide our leaders and all of us to make the place we live in better than the day before. I believe that all of us can make a difference, especially in our own community, it starts with each one of us.
Council meetings will be the second Thursday of each month and everybody is welcome and encourage to join us for our monthly meeting. This month our council meeting will be on August 8th at 7:30. As always, seating is limited so arrive early to get your seat to hear first-hand what is happening at your 706.

From the Editors Desk
Our golf adventures continue at Excalibur Golf Course on Thursday mornings Our group has increased in numbers lately. We tee off Thursdays around 9:20 am. If you would like to play with a great group, come on out and play. This is just a fun group and it’s not a difficult course…just right for us retired guys. We do have a $2 pot from everyone that shows up and anyone can win, because we keep handicaps.
A few of our brother Knights and family members are in need of our prayers. We need to keep them in our prayers. If you find yourself with a few minutes, say a couple prayers for our brothers and family in need. Everyone can be a prayer warrior; God is always listening.
Vivat Jesus,

Jokes and Reflections
Joke this month: Diet Too Late:
In a bookstore, a rather plump woman told the clerk she was having trouble locating a particular diet book.
Checking the computer, the salesperson said, “We do carry that book, but right now it’s out of stock.”
“How long will it take to order it?” the woman asked.
“About two weeks,” was the reply.
“Oh, no!” she said. “That’s much too long! The pool opens this Saturday!”
Bonus Joke this month: Weird Names:
My neighbor owns several cats.
During a recent visit, she introduced them by name. “That’s Astrophe, that’s Erpillar, that’s Aract, that’s Alog.”
“Where on earth did you find those unusual names?” I asked.
“Oh, those are their last names,” she explained. “Their first names are Cat.”
Bonus Joke 2: Funny quotes about marriage
“My advice to you is get married: If you find a good wife you’ll be happy; if not, you’ll become a philosopher.” —Socrates
“Before you marry a person, you should first make them use a computer with slow Internet service to see who they really are.” —Will Ferrell
“Never criticize your spouse’s faults; if it weren’t for them, your mate might have found someone better than you.” —Jay Trachman
“Never go to bed mad. Stay up and fight.” —Phyllis Diller
“Instead of getting married again, I’m going to find a woman I don’t like and give her a house.” —Rod Stewart
“Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.” —Jim Carrey
A Random Thoughts:
Due to my time alone, I finished three books yesterday. And believe me, that’s a lot of coloring.
What did our parents do to kill boredom before the internet? I asked my 26 brothers and sisters and they didn’t know either.
I tried donating blood today…NEVER AGAIN! Too many stupid questions:
Who’s blood is it? Where did you get it from? Why is it in a bucket?
There’s nothing scarier than that split second when you lose your balance in the shower and you think, “They are going to find me naked.”
