Attention: Turkey Dinner Fundraiser September 18th
On Wednesday, September 18th, Council 706 is having a Turkey Dinner fundraiser and raffle. The fundraiser will go to raise money to purchase children’s winter coats, hats, and gloves for the less fortunate here in the Muskegon area. Our goal is to raise $10,000!!! We can do this with a great Turkey Dinner turnout and the generosity of the Knights of Columbus 706 family. Please come down and enjoy a fantastic Turkey Dinner and help us help the less fortunate here in the Muskegon area.
This is a great for those in need in our community. We have access to purchase coats from the State Council at a much-discounted price. We hope to raise the funds for the “Coats for Kids” project. This is a State wide Knights of Columbus project. If you cannot make the above dinner, we will accept donations. Please either drop a check at the hall or mail one in to: KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 706, 2915 Fairfield St, Norton Shores, MI 49441. Please make check payable to Knight of Columbus Council 706, add in the note “Coats for Kids”.

From the Editors Desk
I have been doing the monthly Newsletter for many years. I am hoping to find someone to take on the Newsletter going forward. I need to get out of some of the jobs I do. Please if you are interested in doing this for the Council, I would appreciate showing you the ropes.
Thursday morning golf is still in full swing at Excalibur Golf Course on Thursday mornings We tee off Thursdays around 9:20 am. If you would like to play with a great group, come on out and play. This is just a fun group and it’s not a difficult course…just right for us retired guys. We do have a $2 pot from everyone that shows up and anyone can win, because we keep handicaps.

Jokes and Reflections
Joke this month: New Commander:
A new camp commander was appointed and while inspecting the place, he saw 2 soldiers guarding a bench.
He went over there and asked them why they guard it.
“We don’t know. The last commander told us to do so, and so we did. It is some sort of regimental tradition!”
He searched for the last commander’s phone number and called him to ask him why did he want guards on this particular bench.
“I don’t know. The previous commander had guards, and I kept the tradition.”
Going back another 3 commanders, he found a new 100-year-old retired General.
“Excuse me, sir. I’m now the CO of the camp you commanded 60 years ago. I’ve found 2 men assigned to guard a bench. Could you please tell me more about the bench?”
“What?! Is the paint still wet?!”
Bonus Joke this month: Southern Charm:
Mississippi – The young man from Mississippi came running into the store and said to his buddy, “Bubba, somebody just stole your pickup truck from the parking lot!”
Bubba replied, “Did y’all see who it was?”
The young man answered, “I couldn’t tell, but I got the license number.”
Louisiana – A senior citizen in Louisiana was overheard saying, “When the end of the world comes, I hope to be in Louisiana …”
When asked why, he replied, “I’d rather be in Louisiana ‘cause everythang happens in Louisiana 20 years later than in the rest of the world.”
North Carolina – A man in North Carolina had a flat tire, pulled off on the side of the road, and proceeded to put a bouquet of flowers in front of the car and one behind it.
Then he got back in the car to wait.
A passerby studied the scene as he drove by, and was so curious he turned around and went back. He asked the fellow what the problem was. The man replied, “I got a flat tahr.”
The passerby asked, “But what’s with the flowers?”
The man responded, “When you break down they tell you to put flares in the front and flares in the back. I never did understand it neither.”
Tennessee – A Tennessee State trooper pulled over a pickup on I-65. The trooper asked, “Got any ID?”
The driver replied, “Bout whut?”
Texas – The Sheriff pulled up next to the guy unloading garbage out of his pick-up into the ditch. The Sheriff asked, “Why are you dumping garbage in the ditch? Don’t you see that sign right over your head.”
“Yep,” he replied. “That’s why I’m dumpin’ it here, ‘cause it says: ‘Fine For Dumping Garbage.’”
Y’all kin say whut y’all want ‘about the South, but y’all never heard o’ nobody retirin’ an’ movin’ North, have ya?
