Fellow 706 Knights of Columbus,

Well November was a busy month for the Knights…..on Saturday, November 9^th several KC 706 members helped distribute winter coats at  West Michigan Catholic Charities.        WMCC has been receiving winter coats from Molina Healthcare for the last 8 years and they have asked the Knights of 706 for help in the parking lot distribution the last couple of years.      It was a raging success and will get coats on the backs of hundreds of people in our community that were in need.      The Knights were happy to help, and I offered our assistance to help in upcoming years as well……thanks to all who helped with this worthy cause!!

In addition, we have “teamed” up with the Lumberjacks Reading Caravan to help distribute the coats from our fundraiser.      The reading caravan is a program in which 2-3 Lumberjacks visit area schools and read to children from kindergarten, elementary and those with special needs.   This is a great program headed up by fellow KC member, Jay Vandervorde.   Prior to the reading caravan going to a particular school, Jay reaches out to the schools administrator or teacher and ask if they know of any of their students who may need a coat.   With that information in hand, Jay and the players will bring coats from our fundraiser and deliver to the school to hand out at their discretion.     Again, getting the coats on the backs of those who’s need is there.

Our next monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, December 12^th at 7pm.     As always, all 706 members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
