From the Desk of
the Grand Knight
Council Meeting
Thursday, January 9th – 7:30 PM
Fellow 706 Knights of Columbus,
December was an action-packed month to say the least…..first and foremost, the celebration of Christ’s birthday, Christmas, and THEN all the eating, parties, gifts, etc. Saturday, December 14th marked the annual children’s Christmas party in the morning and the adult (who sometimes acted like children) party that evening. Santa was in particularly rare form and was very impressed with the turnout and had a wonderful time celebrating with all the kids at their party. The adult party was a great time, and the Dave Zager Trio band was sensational once again.
I wanted to extend a big thank you for all those who helped and contributed towards the day-before- thanksgiving party….it was a huge hit!!
And a special thank you Nancy Kolbe and Therese Buday who decorated the club….it looks fantastic!!
Our next monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, January 9th at 7pm. As always, all 706 members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Space is limited and seating will be on a first come, first served basis.

From the Editors Desk
I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday season with friends and family. The annual Christmas party at the club was a blast as always with great food, great music and great company!
I’d also like to take a moment to recognize some women from the club who do a ton of work on behalf of the Knights as well. I received this from Barb (Rich) Langlois:
For several months now, several of us have been volunteering once a month at Catholic Charities Baby Pantry. Our group assists in sorting donations, stocking the store, inventory and creating Giana baskets. In addition, several of us work in the store assisting young mothers as they shop. It is a very enriching experience. Pam DeWall, Debbie Meehan, Geralyn Soles, Barb Langlois(Norm)
Sandi Gowin, Linda Langlois, Pam Poort, Kelly Gustafson , and Barb Langlois (Richard).
If any other ladies are interested in volunteering, I encourage them to contact Molly Thomas at Catholic charities. 231.726.5341

Jokes and Reflections
Joke this month (compliments of Denny) :
Quick Thinking:
There was a teenage boy who worked in the produce section of the local market.
A man came in and asked to buy half a head of lettuce.
The boy said he would go ask his manager about the matter.
So, he walked into the back and said, There’s some jerk out there who wants to buy only a half a head of lettuce.
As he was finishing saying this, he turned around to find the man standing right behind him, so he added, and this here gentleman wants to buy the other half…
The manager okayed the deal, and the man went on his way.
Later the manager called on the boy and said, You almost got yourself in a lot of trouble earlier, but I must say I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of it. You think on your feet, and we like that around here. Where are you from son?
The boy replied, Canada, Sir.
Oh really? Why did you leave Canada? asked the manager.
The boy replied, They’re all just up-tight, homely women and hockey players up there.
Really, replied the manager, My wife is from Canada!
The boy replied, No kidding! What team did she play for?
