the Grand Knight
Council Meeting
Thursday, October 14, 2021 – 7:00 PM
Fellow Brothers,
I would like to thank all those that helped at the fish fry this past Friday and for all the other dinners at the hall. We had a great turnout and were able to serve some great folks that came into the club and thru the take-out. It looks like Mother Nature is going to cooperate with some nice weather, so come down and sit outside while you still can, Fall is a great time to enjoy the Michigan sunshine. We need to soak up as much vitamin D before the sun disappears for winter.
High School and College Football are in full swing now. Please check out events at the hall and cheer your team to victory or look for events after the games at the hall.
Speaking of High School football, the Crusader’s next win will be their 500th win in school history. We will have a homecoming celebration on October 8th at the hall. Chili Dogs will be available that night and music by Brian Fedewa from 9:00 – 12:00. Also, if you want to stop down before the Homecoming game, we will be having a Fish Fry dinner for your enjoyment. If the Crusaders win over the Heights, we will celebrate the 500th win at the Homecoming celebration too.
The Knights of Columbus was able to give checks to The ARC of Muskegon and Wesley School. The money was generated through the MI Tootsie Roll Drive done at Easter time. These are two important charities worth supporting. The ARC of Muskegon helps adults with certain needs manage their lives so that they can live independently. Wesley School helps developmental needs children to function with a quality of life they would not otherwise have.
On September 16th Muskegon Right to Life had their annual benefit dinner ‘Focus on Life’ at Bella Maria event center. The Knights of Columbus sponsored a table for the event, thanks to those brother Knights and their wives for joining Jen and I for some good food and conversation.
I hope all Brother Knights and their families are doing well, but for those that are going through tough times please pray for them. See the members in need of prayers on the website and keep them in your prayers. If anybody would like to get more involved with events, please don’t hesitate to contact me or another member. We have many opportunities to serve this great Muskegon community.

Joke(s) of the Month
No Money
A man suffered a heart attack while shopping in a store. The store manager called 911 when they saw him collapse to the floor. The paramedics rushed the man to the nearest hospital, where he had emergency open-heart bypass surgery.
He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at the Catholic Hospital. A nun was seated next to his bed holding a clipboard, a pen, and a collection of forms. She asked him how he was going to pay for his treatment.
She asked, “Do you have health insurance?”
He replied in a weak raspy voice, “No health insurance.”
The nun asked, “Do you have money in the bank?”
He replied, “No money in the bank.”
The irritated nun continued, “Do you have a relative who could help you with the payments?”
He replied, “I have only a spinster sister and she is a nun.”
The nun became agitated and announced, “Nuns are not spinsters! Nuns are married to God!” The patient replied, “Perfect. Send the bill to my brother-in-law.”
Your Life in a nutshell
When I was young, I was poor.
After years of hard, honest, and painstaking work, I’m no longer young.
Procrastination at its best
I didn’t make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row.
I decided to stop calling the bathroom the “John” and renamed it the “Jim.” I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
When I was a child, I thought “Nap Time” was a punishment. Now, as a grownup, it feels like a small vacation. The biggest lie I tell myself is “I don’t need to write that down. I’ll remember it.”
