October 2022 Newsletter

From the Desk of
the Grand Knight

Council Meeting
Thursday, October 13th, 2022 – 7:00 PM

Brother Knights,

October is still in the Catholic calendar as ordinary time, but as we look outside at all the beauty that God has created with the Fall colors, I like to think of it as a period of extraordinary time.  October holds two very important traditions, Respect for Life and the Rosary, which emulate the Catholic values.

As the weather starts to get colder, we are reminded that some people are not as fortunate, so we will be kicking off our Coats for Kids drive.  We have started the “Coats for Kids” program to help put a coat on every child in our community that needs one.  The program works to provide a coat to any child that needs one within our Muskegon community.  There are multiple ways that you can help as a member of the Muskegon Community.  You can either drop off a new coat to the Knights of Columbus Hall or give a cash donation to the program.  At the end of the donation period, we will take the cash a purchase coats at a discounted price to distribute throughout our Muskegon Community through local organizations.  I would like to thank you in advance for your support for this program and for helping keep the children of our Muskegon community warm this winter.

We are starting to track our activities in the community, so if you do any volunteer work within our community, please drop me an email or text so it can be recorded, and our council receives credit.  We have so many members out in our community doing great things, let’s get the notoriety that we deserve.  Please send me the activity and the number of hours that you volunteered.  Let’s see how many hours we can record.

I would ask that you add into your prayers, that God may guide our leaders and all of us to make the place we live in better than the day before.  I believe that all of us can make a difference, especially in our own community, it starts with each one of us.  The elections are coming up next month, please get out and vote.

Council meetings will be the second Thursday of each month and everybody is welcome and encourage to join us for our monthly meeting.  This month will be on October 13th @ 7 pm.  If the weather permits, we will be meeting outside on the patio.I hope all Brother Knights and their families are doing well, but for those that are going through tough times please pray for them.  See the members in need on the website and keep them in your prayers.

Joke(s) of the Month

Kind Word Too Late

A man walked into a restaurant in a strange town. The waiter came and asked him for his order.

Feeling lonely, he replied, “Meat loaf and a kind word.”

When the waiter returned with the meat loaf, the man said, “Where’s the kind word?”

The waiter put down the meat loaf and sighed, bent down, and whispered, “Don’t eat the meat loaf.”

Western Union

On a slow day with few customers, a clerk at a Western Union office looks down from her counter and sees a dog waiting in line.

“Oh, aren’t you cute?” she says. “What would you like me to put on your telegram?”

“Bow wow wow, bow wow wow,” the dog replies.

The clerk says in a cutesy voice, “But you can add another ‘Bow wow wow’ for the same price.

“The dog responds, “Now wouldn’t that sound a little silly?”

Who to Vote For

A couple of opposing candidates for county office happened to be sitting next to each other in the local diner.

One turned to the other and said, “You know why I’m going to win this election? Because of my ‘personal touch.’ For example, I always tip waitresses really well and then ask them to vote for me.”

“Oh, is that so?” replied the other. “I always tip them a nickel and ask them to vote for you too.”
